Switch and Socket Boxes (Back Boxes)
A comprehensive range of British Standard Barton switch and socket boxes is manufactured in in two depths, 35mm and 47mm, available in one and two-gang configurations. To facilitate the easy fitting of accessories into the boxes, they are designed with at least one adjustable lug.
Adjustable Lug
All Barton switch and socket boxes are fitted with a regulation brass earth terminal into which several earth wires can be fitted from either the inside or outside of the box.
Regulation Brass Earth Terminal
Each box is produced with a specified number and size of knockouts which allow adequate cable entries for wiring purposes.
Nominal dimensions
- One gang: 72mm x 72mm.
- Two gang: 132mm x 72mm
- Material: Pre-coated galvanised steel.
- Barton switch and socket boxes are manufactured in accordance with BS 4662.

EXTENSION BACK BOX
A switch and socket extension back box is used to extend standard flush wall boxes that have been sunk in too deep or to accommodate deeper wiring accessories.
